                                                         DOG CLUB HISTORY

The Mornington Peninsula Community Dog Club is a relatively new concept.

The Club was founded in late October 2002 out of the need for a ‘Pet’ Dog training club and to promote Responsible Dog Ownership by teaching people to have  fun with their dogs.

The Club became incorporated in October 2002.

Feburary 2003 saw the first official training at Citation Oval, Helena Street, Mt Martha.

Late 2003 saw the club affiliate with the Victorian Canine Association (now Dogs Victoria)

Our qualified instructors are dedicated to sharing their expertise in a friendly and positive way, to enhance the enjoyment of dog ownership.

You and your dog will have the opportunity to join other dog lovers and their dogs in lots of different social ‘fun’ activities

RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP PROGRAM

The Club in partnership with the Mornington Peninsula Shire offers a free 8 week Responsible Dog Ownership Program as a community service to encourage people to train their dogs and to be responsible dog owners.  By this the Club is hoping to cut down on numbers of dogs that are left to roam the streets and generally get into mischief

As an incentive to encourage people to participate in the program the shire allows a rebate on dog registration fees to those dog owners who successfully complete the course

Dog owners participating in the program must ensure their dog is fully vaccinated and over twelve months of age.  The course is run free of charge as a community service
