POOch PouchTM Pouches

Adapted from the Shire of Mornington website www.mornpen.vic.gov.au

A ‘POOch PouchTM’ is a small nylon pouch made to be easily attached to a dog’s lead. It is used to carry plastic bags – i.e. supermarket carry bags - for collecting dog pooh when the need arises.

When walking your dog you should always carry such bags to collect your dog’s pooh, and then put it in a bin.

Collecting your dog’s pooh is easy and hygienic if you place your hand inside the bag, pick up the deposit and then, using your other hand, invert the bag so the deposit becomes trapped inside it, and your hands do not touch the deposit.

The Shire website suggests a number of reasons for cleaning up after your dog has poohed, including the reminders that failure to remove your dog's waste from public places may result in a $100 ‘on the spot’ fine, and failure of any person in charge or in control of a dog in a public place to have in their possession sufficient bags or similar devices for the purpose of removing and hygienically disposing of any excrement deposited by their dog.
may result in a further $100 ‘on the spot’ fine.
