What goes into becoming an Instructor?

 Do you love dogs?
 Do you have good people skills?
 Are you enthusiastic, caring and patient?
 Would you love to see people getting the most out of their dogs in a positive, friendly way?
 Would you get a thrill out of watching people learning together and having fun with their dogs?
 Would you get pleasure from helping people integrate their dogs into our society?
 Do you enjoy learning and continually expanding your knowledge about dogs?
 Have you always wanted to give more to your community by volunteering your time and energy?

Then why not come along and join us as an Instructor at the MPCDC?

The process to join our Instructor family is to participate in a 17 week internal course.  The course will initially involve spending a couple of weeks with our training facilitator, then you will spend time in each of our different levels of classes and finally take a class on your own for 4 weeks.

During the course you will spend time with a variety of different Instructors, learning various ways and methods of training.  All our training involves positive reward based training.  No harsh methods or correction collars are used.  We do not train dogs for obedience trialling; we train for well adjusted, obedient, fun, pet dogs.

Our Instructors like to keep up to date by reading and discussing books about training methods and behaviour.  We also attend external training and lectures.  We have a small library which Instructors are free to borrow from at any time.

If you are interested in becoming an Instructor, please have a chat to one of our current Instructors for more information.

Instructing is extremely rewarding, especially when we see the changes and improvements in our two and four-legged friends.
